Frequently asked questions about maternity photoshoots

When should I have my maternity photography session?

The best time to book your pregnancy photoshoot is from around week 28 of your pregnancy. Or week 26 to 28 if you are expecting twins. Every bump is different so, see how you feel and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

A longer FAQ about maternity photography sessions at my studio can be read here.

Do you provide any maternity photoshoot dresses?

Yes, absolutely! I have a client wardrobe which includes a large selection of maternity gowns and dresses. Add to this a huge selection of silk fabrics and drapes in many colours. To see the ever expanding range of clothing and outfits you can choose from, read this 'What to Wear to my Maternity Photo Shoot and What Outfits do I Provide’ informative blog post with photographs to illustrate the range of clothing you can use in your pregnancy photo shoot.

The most requested portrait is the highly sought after maternity nudes - no clothing required there!

I am delighted to also have six headdresses made by the talented Carrie from Cc Millinery Creations.

Lastly, feel free to bring your favourite clothing you have and would like to use in your session. Hats, jewellery or accessories are great for styling and making your session unique and personal to you.

Can I purchase digital files?

Yes, I offer digital high resolution files from 5 images to 30 (or more) for all maternity photoshoots. You'll receive images in colour and in black and white, in high resolution (great for printing) and in low resolution (perfect for sending via emails or for social network sites). Please note that the talent lies in capturing the images rather than the retouching. You are welcome to order any amount of images you wish however, no images will be released free of charge.

How do I choose my images after my photoshoot?

You select your favourite images from your session via a Zoom meeting where I share my screen with you. I have a fantastic program which makes the selection process a walk in the park. It helps isolate your favourite images into a separate folder. I can show you two to three images at the same time and zoom in to show you your facial expression. Clients love the ease with which they can choose their portraits and see the images laid out as potential wall groupings. It’s best to allow between thirty minutes to an hour to select your favourite images from your photoshoot.

What is included in airbrushing of my images?

I work with professional retouchers and your images will be airbrushed in as natural a style as possible which will match the images seen on my website.

Skin will be slightly smoothed, any spots removed, teeth whitened and a light 'nip and tuck' of double chins or other parts of the body is offered.

Additional airbrushing such as fixing of tan lines, drastic slimming, and removal of tattoos is available at an extra cost.

Please arrive with clothing that has been ironed as any removal of creases is not included in general retouching.

Lastly make sure your hair is as you wish it to be as it’s one of the most difficult things to retouch and often not possible to fix.

Price will be quoted per each job of additional airbrushing requested outside of my normal work.

Maternity Masterpieces

1 Maternity Masterpiece is included with any of the sessions. Additional Masterpieces cost £200 per Masterpiece.

Do you offer newborn photoshoots?

I do recommend having your newborn photography session up to twenty-five days (or so) after your baby is born. The bigger the baby (over 4kg), the sooner you should have the newborn portraits taken. This is because heavier babies tend to put on weight quite quickly and can lose that newborn curl everyone wants to capture. Newborn photoshoots are offered by Nemi or you can choose to have a session with one of our associate photographers. Visit Moon & Stars Photography for more information.
