We all want to get a little glimpse of behind the scenes, to get a feel for how a photoshoot looks and to see how does your photographer work. This behind the scenes video of a maternity photoshoot at my London photography studio will do just that.
This photoshoot was for an mum-to-be who was expecting her second child. The excitement of the big sister was very clear and lovely to see during this photography session. All I had to do is give clear and gentle guidance to capture a fab selection of family portraits. All with natural expressions - no stiff poses here!
When children step into my studio I love to ensure that they don't feel overwhelmed and get given as much time to relax and take in their new surroundings as they need. Before you know it, they are in front of the camera giggling and enjoying the experience.
Many a time I think that one has to be a child entertainer when photographing children and with this in mind the studio is filled with many puppets, wooden toys for the little ones to play with, a bubble making toy, as well as STICKERS! Of course most toddlers try to go for the Holly Grail of all toys - my camera! My reflexes have been tested on many occasions and I have surprised myself how quickly I can leap across the studio to get to the camera just as the curious toddler does. Never a dull day when you are photographing young children in a studio.
